Below you will find a couple of links relating
to fakes that have been known to exist in the bottle collecting
fraternity.Whilst not being actual fakes people should be aware
of recent Codd bottles being manufactured in India(so I was told),these
are invariably unembossed (as they had an adhesive label)of a
dark aqua/light green colour and mostly have a cobalt marble. They
are machine made and whilst having a few seed bubbles ect the
lip mould should give the game away.As I said these are not meant
to mislead as they can be purchased from delicatessens and the
like with full contents(mine was spring water)and a label.I mention
this so novice collectors can know they exist and be aware of
them. Also as I mention on the colours page some bottles can be
cooked with ultraviolet light to make a clear bottle turn
a sort of purple colour, again don't be fooled NO bottles were
ever produced from purple glass, also be aware of painted bottles
which the bottle link below will explain in more detail.I will
add more links below as and when I become aware of them. |
